Broomfield requires a building permit for any shed or accessory structure greater than 120 square feet. Smaller structures must still meet setback requirements and cannot sit inside any easement. Broomfield enforces the 2021 International Codes and the 2023 National Electrical Code as of August 2023, and parts of the 2024 codes are coming online in April 2026. Decks and additions follow their own rules. The homeowner files the permit. We provide construction documents and walk you through Broomfield's submittal process.
